Our process
Our process brings structure and precision to every renovation; complementing our creative ambitions, whilst allowing us to hit the high standard we set. We know that each project carries a unique set of characteristics, however, our guiding principles remain constant. They help steer us smoothly from concept to completion. We break each project down into two distinct phases: Create & Construct; so we can successfully manage and deliver beautiful work.
Create
PROJECT PLAN AND SITE SURVEY
This initial meeting is all about discovery; taking the time to understand our client’s vision. We opt for a consultative approach, making introductions, building trust and developing a project brief together. This time is also used to carry out site reviews & analysis, whilst discussing initial budgets.
PRELIMINARY DESIGN
A measured building survey allows us to move into the next phase; undertaking initial floor plans and potential layouts proposals. Inceptive sketches and designs are developed in tandem with our client’s ideas, to build insightful creative solutions.
PLANNING AND CONSERVATION APPLICATION
With our experience comes the knowledge and understanding of the intricacies involved in planning. Our work on listed buildings and numerous planning applications means we offer the best advice and guidance to our clients during this tedious yet essential stage.
ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND STRUCTURAL
Our strong relationships with trusted specialist structural engineers, mechanical contractors, designers and architects, means we work successfully alongside each other to build towards a final proposal.
INTERIOR DESIGN
An exciting part of the process where we get to showcase interior concepts, mood boards, potential fabrics, finishes and fittings. We encourage and value openness, honesty and collaboration at this stage.
CONSTRUCT
PRE-BUILD PREPARATIONS
As we move into the construction phase, we introduce and familiarise the build team and specialist contractors to the project. Specifications are finalised and site security and health & safety measures are implemented.
THE BUILD
Our dedicated and skilled team manage every aspect of the renovation process. Driving the build forward at every stage, whilst keeping a meticulous eye on timelines, budget and project design plans.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Our personal approach means that every build is project managed by the Hill Magee team. We sit at the heart of every project; organising and liaising with external parties and specialist sub-contractors to ensure nothing is left to chance.
AFTERCARE AND MAINTENANCE
On completion, we supply a detailed end of build handover that includes clear operating and maintenance manuals. We create long-lasting relationships with our clients which continue long after a project finishes and often leads to new ventures together.
PLANNING & CONSERVATION
Diligent and detailed planning is always the cornerstone for a successful renovation project. We have a strong understanding of this area; gained whilst working on listed buildings and conservation projects around London. With a multitude of successful planning applications achieved in house and ongoing relationships with trusted planning consultants, we have what it takes to address all of the challenges planning permission can produce.
INTERIOR DESIGN
As well as designing in-house, we work alongside a handpicked team of architects and select interior designers. We believe creating a beautiful environment is a collaborative process; balancing our creative, detailed and strategic thinking with a client’s design brief and personal style.
Our design studio offers clients bespoke solutions with custom-designed interiors. Utilising our tried and tested trade suppliers and vast network of skilled artisans; we guide the project through each stage of the design journey.
BESPOKE JOINERY
Joinery is deeply rooted in Hill Magee’s history, with a wealth of knowledge and understanding of what it takes to turn clients’ visions into exceptional living spaces. With innovative design and planning, we are able to keep all production in house for a smooth transition from conception to installation. All our furniture is manufactured and assembled at our fully functional joinery workshop in South London.
AFTERCARE & MAINTENANCE
We strive to build strong, long-lasting relationships with all our clients and their projects. We pride ourselves on being proactive and approachable, even once the final stages of the build are complete. We have an array of trusted industry contacts and maintenance specialists on hand to resolve any future service issues
